The Kashmiri Shawl candle embodies the earthy, herbal scent of patchouli, a scent originating in Southeast Asia. This scent was carried to the West through luxurious shawls made in the Kashmir Valley. The shawls eventually gained popularity in Europe, and the way to distinguish authentic shawls was by their scent. When being shipped from Kashmir, the shawls were layered with dried patchouli leaves to repel moths.
